The iconic Morgan Plus 8 was introduced in 1968 and has always been equipped with a Rover (originally Buick) V8 engine. In the late nineties, Morgan supplied the more powerfull 4.6 V8 engine in addition to the well-known 3.9 V8. This was only available for a short time, so it is a popular and rare model within the series. The 4.6 V8 delivers 223 hp and 353 Nm of torque, which ensures impressive performance in the 1,000 kg Morgan. Power is available at every speed and with every engine speed, making the car not only fast, but also great for cruising. And the engine sound actually needs no explanation of course. A beautiful dark rumble can be heard from the double exhausts. A true pleasure!
We have known this car since we imported it to the Netherlands in 2009. Since then, the car has always been faithfully maintained by us and no expense has been spared. The color combination immediately appealed to us at the time and is still beautiful. Indigo Blue in combination with a beige interior and matching roof suits the car great. Especially with the large 16 inch wire wheels and the so-called 'wide body' bodywork, it is a tough appearance. In the interior you look at a beautiful walnut dashboard where leather elements have been used around the counters. The four-spoke steering wheel emphasizes the classic character of the Morgan and is an item we rarely see.
The many beautiful details complete the picture. For example, this Plus 8 has a nice bonnet strap, Union Jack badges on the bonnets, extra spotlights, treadrubber and also some technical upgrades such as an aluminium radiator and a remote lubrication system, so that the lubrication points of the front suspension can be found under the bonnets. Of course, this 4.6 Plus 8 is taken care of in the workshop before delivery by our experienced Morgan mechanics who have known the car for over 15 years.
