Donkervoort is an exclusive Dutch manufacturer known for its high-quality, hand-built sports cars since its inception in 1978. The D8 JD70 is the latest addition to their impressive line of vehicles and represents the ultimate combination of performance, technology and craftsmanship. It is a limited-build car, making it a particularly rare specimen for the true enthusiast.
The engine placed in Lelystad in the D8 JD70 is a 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder Audi engine that produces 500 hp. Thanks to its low weight of just 700 kg, this car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. In 7.7 seconds, the speedometer shoots from 0 to 200 km/h. Top speed is set at 280 km/h. Shifting is done using a five-speed manual transmission with short gear ratios. Impressive: according to Donkervoort, on street-legal tyres, the D8 GTO-JD70 is capable of chasing through corners with 2G of centrifugal force.... A truly phenomenal feat that makes it one of the fastest and most agile sports cars in its class.
Like the D8 GTO-40 presented in 2018, this newcomer has sidepipes, i.e. exhausts on the side of the car. In addition, this D8 GTO-JD70 is the first Donkervoort ever to have electronic power steering. The system can be adjusted to the driver's wishes. All around, the manufacturer mounts triple adjustable dampers. Donkervoort has a chassis constructed from both aluminium and carbon fibre. Partly due to this, the car owes its extremely low weight. The alloys measure 17-inch at the front and 18-inch at the rear. The rear diffuser provides some 80 kilos of downward pressure. The nose is striking; all cooling vents in it are hexagonal.
As we have come to expect from Donkervoort, the D8 JD70 is a masterpiece of weight saving. The chassis is made of aluminium and carbon fibre, making the car not only light, but also extremely rigid and responsive.
The use of Carbon Exterior options not only contributes to the low weight, but also gives the car an aggressive, sporty look.
In combination with Chalk Grey exterior paint from Porsche, this makes for a nice contrast.
Certainly unique are the Carbon wheels that not only improve performance by saving weight, but also provide a visually striking look.
