Description
This Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 is the model with which Porsche set a new standard in the 1970s. Presented in Paris in 1974 and delivered from 1975 onwards, this was the first 911 with a turbo. Not an evolution, but a statement. Wide rear wings, a fixed rear spoiler and performance that was exceptional at the time. The 930 thus became the beginning of a Turbo line that continues to this day. This 1976 model is finished in the factory colour Platinum Diamond Metallic (L944). A subtle metallic shade that perfectly matches the spirit of the 1970s and the character of the car. Combined with the black Fuchs rims with anodised edges and the wide 'whale tail', it creates the silhouette for which the 930 is famous.
At the rear is the 3.0-litre air-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine with turbo technology and mechanical Bosch injection. Good for 260 hp and coupled to the characteristic four-speed manual gearbox. The power does not come on gradually, but builds up until the turbo builds pressure. This requires the driver's attention and makes every journey intense. That is precisely what gives this first Turbo its reputation.
The engine has been completely overhauled and, like the engine compartment, is in good condition. The gearbox, braking system and chassis are also in good technical condition. The car has been completely restored in the past and has since been carefully maintained by specialists. The bodywork is sleek, damage-free and equipped with an electric sunroof, a factory option from that period.
Inside, a classic 1970s interior has been chosen, with black leather combined with checked fabric seats. The sports seats offer good support and match the character of the car. The dashboard is original and complete, with fully functional VDO instruments. The modern Porsche Classic radio adds ease of use without detracting from the look.
With low mileage since restoration, original documentation and a clear history, this is a particularly well-maintained example of a sought-after classic. The first 911 Turbo 3.0 is considered one of the most coveted air-cooled 911s today.
This Porsche 930 is no ordinary classic. It is a car that engages its driver with every kilometre. Raw, mechanical and full of character. An important chapter in Porsche history and a model that still impresses, both stationary and driving.
