McLaren 620R – Onyx Black, Circuit DNA on License Plate
The McLaren 620R is not an interpretation of a race car. It is a race car, only with a number plate. Born from the 570S GT4, but freed from the restrictions of the regulations, this is the purest street car McLaren has ever built.
This example is finished in Onyx Black, a colour that adds excitement to its sharp lines. The adjustable carbon rear wing, GT4-inspired splitter and air vents in the bonnet are not for show. Together, they deliver up to 185 kg of downforce at 150 mph. At speed, the car feels as if it sucks in to the tarmac, a sensation you normally only experience on a track.
Open the dihedral doors and you step into a cockpit that leaves nothing to the imagination. Carbon racing fairings hug your body, six-point harnesses keep you firmly in place. No luxury frills, just what is needed to perform. McLaren Track Telemetry is ready to capture every lap, every corner, every brake action. This is not a comfortable GT. This is a machine that challenges you.
Start the 3.8-litre V8 biturbo and the world changes. 620 hp, 620 Nm, a weight of 1,470 kg. 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, a top speed of 322 km/h. But numbers don't tell how it feels when the turbo’s blow up, when the titanium exhausts let out their raucous soundtrack. Every acceleration is direct, every corner an exercise in precision.
The 620R is uncompromising. Tough, honest, focused. It asks something of you – concentration, respect – and gives something in return that no other street car can offer: the feeling of driving a race car, without a pitlane.
This is not a promise. This is an experience. For the enthusiast who understands that real performance is not in comfort, but in connection.
The particularity of this car concerns the fact that it was the first registered 620R in the world and had its first 1,500 kilometres in use by McLaren Automotive in Woking.
2 months after this registration, we received this car in the Netherlands with the aim of making Dutch geïn interested parties familiar with this special model.
Because the countries around us went into lockdown one after the other at the time, the factory asked us if we wanted to keep the car longer or perhaps buy it.
Captivated by the uniqueness of the model and our enthusiasm made us decide to buy this car and we found a customer for it very quickly.
He was included in a beautiful McLaren Collection but not before our regular partner Custom Dreams had worked its magic on the car.
For example, the air intakes of the front bonnet as well as the roofscoop were painted in a McLaren Orange fade as were the rims and the McLaren Orange striping.
Chassis number #9 was already a car with a special history and story, the exterior now completely matches it.
By having to shut down the factory, the previously targeted number of 350 cars to be built was also reduced to 225, making it 1 of the most limited McLarens produced.
